Kept class together, got two sought after Jucos,


and convinced UF de-commit Bailey to come to VT but mom put her foot down at the end. To draw such negative conclusions is off base, IMO. The class ranking is a reflection of the recruiting before he got here. The existing coaching staff is former Memphis and existing VT coaches so there wasn't anyone from another P5 school to come in and pull recruits they were on before. That would have improved the ranking but would not have provided any insight into Fuente's recruiting ability. He got the most important recruit with QB Evans. I was stoked he kept QB Jackson, too.

VT is approximately the 25th best football program and Fuente will pull classes commensurate with that. It would take one of the top head coach recruiters in the nation to do anything better. VT can't pull that kind of coach but Fuente offers a great O mind, looks like he could be a long-timer, and kept Bud. I think he'll get VT back to being a top 25 program with a chance every few years to make a run at the ACC championship. Any expectations beyond that are out of whack, IMO.
